When it first debuted in 1972, Brazil's Hotel do Frade was little more than a souped-up 16-room shack. Three-and-a-half decades later, the property has been reborn—with 162 brightly colored rooms, 16 airy bungalows, an inviting pool and lounge, and, last but not least, a pro-level golf course. Located in its own swath of protected rain forest in Brazil's balmy Bay of Ilha Grande, the hotel reopens this weekend.
